BARCELONA, SPAIN, October 05, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona is set to showcase a collection called Jewelleries by Artist - From Modernism to the Avant-Garde from this autumn.
Beginning on October 27th, this exhibition is sure to raise some eyebrows among even experienced art enthusiasts, since it reveals the attitudes to jewellery of many hugely famous names.
Among the all-star cast of artists on show for guests at the cheap hotels Barcelona has to offer are Max Ernst, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Auguste Rodin.
Many of the pieces on display in this incredible collection have been borrowed from major art institutions across the world, ranging from London's Victoria and Albert Museum to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
"[It] will reveal how major artists at the forefront of creative trends in the fertile 20th century - both Catalans and their international counterparts, from modernism to the first historic avant-garde movements - approached the world of jewellery," explained the organisers.
The MNAC can be found by heading to the Parc de Montjuic in the Catalan city, with all sorts of masterpieces to be explored in its permanent collection, such as Saint Peter and Saint Paul, by El Greco.
It is open from 10:00 to 19:00 local time between Tuesday and Saturday, while opening hours on Sundays are 10:00 to 14:30. The complex is closed on Mondays.
Tickets for general entry into the arts space cost EUR8.50 (GBP7.40), although concessions are available.
For more information on this event visit the MNAC website or contact the venue on +34 93 622 03 76.
