NEW YORK, NY, October 05, 2010 (Press-News.org) Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature Washington DC artist, Kristina Garon, in Degrees of Abstraction. The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 05, 2010 through October 26, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, October 07, 2010).
Magical hidden worlds are brought to life in the fluidity of Kristina Garon's brushstrokes. Working in acrylics with a flowing, liquid mark, Garon brings her luminescent vision to the canvas in a joyful expression of her vibrant creative spirit. Calling her works "deliveries from the universe," she paints from her third eye's inner sight with an intuitive energy, mixing her colors directly on the canvas. Though at first glance appearing deceptively abstract, on closer inspection Garon's paintings reveal fantastically kaleidoscopic scenes of figures, faces, animals, and architectural forms, the transparency of her dripping colors reminiscent of sunlight pouring through the stained glass windows of cathedrals. Often Kristina's paintings depict a narrative, frequently on the theme of how people's choices and decisions have an impact on their lives.
Born in Lithuania, Garon trained in the classic fine arts tradition at the Academy of Art in Vilnius, Lithuania, before coming to the West and developing her own voice through Abstract Expressionism. In recent years she has received recognition for her works both in the U.S. and internationally.
Exhibition Dates: October 05, 2010 - October 26, 2010
Reception: Thursday, October 07, 2010, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Gallery Location: 530 West 25th St, New York City
Gallery Hours: Tues - Sat, 11a.m. - 6 p.m.

In Degrees of Abstraction, artists display contrasting perspectives, inspired illusions and immeasurable talent. This exhibition is a poignant portrayal of visual dissonance and harmony transmitted through complex composition and transcendent design. Come celebrate the triumph of artists from the U.S. and abroad in their ambitious quest to capture the human spirit and the complexities of existence on canvas.
