CHESAPEAKE, VA, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) Donald Marcari, of the Marcari, Russotto, Spencer & Balaban, PC law firm, is the new spokesperson for the NO TXT ZONE campaign in Virginia. The NO TXT ZONE program urges participants to sign a pledge promising to not text message while driving.

Marcari, Russotto, Spencer & Balaban, PC sponsors the NO TXT ZONE campaign, which is headed by Norfolk-Hampton Roads television station MyTVZ. A television advertisement featuring Marcari was recently released, encouraging drivers to pledge their support for the NO TXT ZONE campaign. MyTVZ watchers can go to www.mytvz.com to sign their pledge.

"Texting while driving is quickly becoming a national epidemic," says North Carolina and Virginia lawyer Marcari. "Clients frequently come to my law firm with serious injuries caused by texting and driving. A text can wait - it's not worth risking your life."

The National Safety Council estimates that 1.6 million crashes per year involve drivers using cell phones. The State of Virginia bans all drivers from text messaging and individuals under 18 are not allowed to use cell phones while driving. Drivers caught texting while driving are issued a $20 fine and a $50 fine for a second offense.
