SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) Yalik's Modern Art in High Point, NC, is partnering with Guide by Cell, a leading mobile technology provider to cultural institutions, to offer interpretation through a cell phone audio tour and a podcast mobile website accessible via text message, for the upcoming "John Coltrane vs. the Jazz Critics: 1961-1966" documentary and photography exhibit.
"I am pleased with Guide by Cell's cell phone audio guide and podcasting services," said Phyllis Bridges, CEO of Yalik's Modern Art. "We believe it will greatly enhance the visitor's experience and take our John Coltrane exhibit to another level."
Beginning August 24, the exhibit "Coltrane vs. the Jazz Critics: 1961-1966" will recount former High Point resident John Coltrane's uneasy relationship with jazz critics. The exhibit focuses on the tumultuous Civil Rights' period during a campaign by Down Beat magazine to discredit his musical experiments in the years before Coltrane's national recognition. The exhibit will be open to the public through September 16, 2012.
To access the audio tour, visitors may dial (781) 730-4687 from their cell phone and follow the prompts to listen to Coltrane's music while examining photographs, letters, record reviews, and artifacts throughout the exhibit. Visitors will also have the option to text "TRANE" to 56512 to receive a link to the podcasting webpage with the list of audio clips.
A leading provider in mobile technology, Guide by Cell also offers integrated mobile solutions including QR codes, mobile websites, cell phone audio tours, mobile fundraising, and text message campaigns. For more information, please visit http://www.guidebycell.com.
