AroundCampus College Coupon App Aims to Offset Rising Tuition Costs, Put Cash Back Into the Hands of College Students.

AroundCampus is the nation's largest and most-respected college coupon site and mobile app. The app launched last fall and provides more than 14 thousand local coupons and deals to students on college campuses.

2012-08-24
CHAPEL HILL, NC, August 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) Just in time for fall semester, AroundCampus is prepared to fatten the wallets of college students across the country. The website and mobile app, available at over 190 universities nationwide, is a mecca for students looking to cash in on deals around their college towns.

AroundCampus is the nation's largest and most-respected college coupon site and mobile app. The app launched last fall and provides more than 14 thousand local coupons and deals to students on college campuses.

Within five months of its launch, AroundCampus was named the "Best College Student App" in the 2011 Best App Ever Awards. By this fall, the app is poised to reach well over 20 thousand downloads.
"This is by far the best and easiest way to search for what I need on a daily basis. No matter what I'm looking for, restaurants, mechanics, dentists, if they're on [AroundCampus] I know they respect and want my business as a college student." Adds Ryan McLaughlin, a North Carolina State University undergrad.

Available for free on both iPhones and Android devices, the AroundCampus app allows users to access coupons at their selected university, or let their GPS determine the college closest to them.

AroundCampus makes it easy to find local deals by category or even plot the offers out on a map. To redeem a coupon, a user simply brings the app into the store and the cashier clicks "Redeem" at checkout. Thousands of brand-new offers for the 2012-2013 school year will launch later this month.
"We know what it's like to be a college student. Even a dollar off your dinner can be helpful, but the 'Buy One, Get Ones' and other freebies make AroundCampus a must have," says Justin Plant, project manager for the AroundCampus app.

The college deals primarily consist of offers from local businesses looking to tap into the highly-sought-after student market in their community. Smart move, considering that college students nationwide have an estimated $76 billion in discretionary buying power in 2012, according to a 2011 College Explorer Survey.

"I see two or three coupons a day. It's an amazing redemption rate. And the best thing is it's August to August, so we get the university's business all year long. We were the first HuHot on AroundCampus and now several other locations have joined on as well." Says Adam Schroeder, General Manager of HuHot in Eau Claire, WI and a happy advertiser on AroundCampus.

Participating businesses are given the ability to change the offer on their coupon as often as they'd like, so the deals on AroundCampus are constantly changing throughout the year.

AroundCampus will use student brand reps to promote their coupons and app downloads during the school year. Part of these grassroots promotions will include a campus-wide scavenger hunt at over 30 campuses, where students will be competing for a grand prize trip and other goodies such as an iPad, cash and more. AroundCampus plans to give away a free spring break package to four lucky college students this fall.

For the best local deals in your college town, download the Around Campus iPhone app or the Around Campus Android app. The AroundCampus website also has the same great deals as the app and easy navigating to find the offer you're looking for.
