LateRooms.com - Experience Fidelio in Liverpool

Liverpool will welcome the Welsh National Opera in November for a performance of Fidelio.

2010-10-07
LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, October 07, 2010 (Press-News.org) Liverpool Empire is hosting a performance of Beethoven's Fidelio by the Welsh National Opera this autumn.

The show is taking place on November 5th and should be a real firecracker, with Lisa Milne playing the role of the story's heroine Leonore, who tries to free her husband Florestan.

Opera enthusiasts will be blown away by the majesty of this performance and will no doubt head back to their Liverpool hotels at the end of the evening very satisfied with what they have seen.

Among the other talented opera singers taking to the stage for the concert will be Dennis O'Neill, Phillip Joll and Petros Magoulas.

The story sees Leonore posing as Fidelio and working at Don Pizarro's prison in order to help her husband - who has been unjustly incarcerated - escape from his plight.

"Beethoven's only opera is a rousing, triumphant affirmation of his belief that the most important human qualities, love, courage and kindness can exist in even the most inhuman of conditions," noted the venue.

Admission costs between GBP6.70 and GBP28.50 depending on where people would like to sit in the arena, with the show kicking off at 19:15 GMT and running for about two hours and 15 minutes.

The concert is one of three performances by the Welsh National Opera at the Liverpool Empire, with the team acting out Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss and Mozart's Magic Flute as well.

For more information on this event visit the Welsh National Opera website or contact the venue on +44 (0) 870 606 3536.
