BOSTON, MA, September 07, 2012 (Press-News.org) SIMUL8 Corporation, developers of process improvement simulation software have announced that Gatwick Airport will continue to use their software to help improve the passenger experience. Gatwick is continuing to invest approximately GBP1 million every day, modernizing the airport's facilities and delivering benefits to passengers as well as airlines.
With the ability to test changes in a safe environment; the Gatwick team used SIMUL8 to conduct scenario testing. This means that rather than changing factors in real life that could disturb the passenger experience they tested changes in the software first.
To date, SIMUL8 has been used at Gatwick to simulate layouts and passenger flows to minimize disruption. Testing different scenarios and viewing solutions in a highly visual and interactive manner helps Gatwick make the right decisions. Using SIMUL8 also provided Gatwick the ability to advise airlines on how to increase efficiency in their operations without the need for increased investment.
When asked about the benefits of simulation, Gatwick's Programme Manager, Mike Goacher, confirmed: "Using simulation reduces the risk of disruption to passengers. We understand that all areas of the airport connect with each other and therefore it's important that we understand the impact on the passenger journey. Testing this in a virtual environment to help us make the right decisions is key and this technology is helping us do this effectively".
As a result of their current success with the software, SIMUL8 Corporation has been chosen by Gatwick for further possible projects within the airport.
