Spectrum Athletic Clubs Tickled Pink About Upcoming 3-Day Breast Cancer Fundraiser

General Public Invited to "Workout to Fight Cancer" Via Cardio Sessions; $25 Donation Earns $75 Pass

LONG BEACH, CA, October 03, 2012 (Press-News.org) Spectrum Athletic Clubs is "tickled pink" about its upcoming 3-day fundraiser, "Workout to Fight Cancer", benefiting Cancer Support Community-Redondo Beach. In observation of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the 4 high-end fitness facilities in the South Bay will open their doors to the general public. A suggested minimum $25 donation will allow them to climb aboard the clubs' specially designated treadmill machines for a 30-minute session or attend a special group fitness classes anytime between Oct 18-20 and those making online donations (www.cancersupportredondobeach.org) will receive a 3-day pass redeemable at any Spectrum Athletic Club, a $75 value. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs or mementos of their loved ones whose lives were directly impacted by the disease and they will be displayed on a "tribute collage" and featured at each of the clubs through month's end.

To commemorate this month of observation, equipment dedicated to the fundraiser will be painted or decorated pink, the nationally recognized color of breast cancer. Participating clubs include Redondo Beach (819 North Harbor Dr), South Bay (250 Park Place, El Segundo), Rolling Hills (51 Peninsula Ctr) and Howard Hughes (6833 Park Terrace, Los Angeles) locations.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Cancer Support Community-Redondo Beach (CSC-RB) provides more than 140 free programs per month that offer emotional support, education and hope for cancer patients, their families and loved ones. Their goal is to help patients recover from the physical and emotional effects of the disease to the greatest extent possible. Services include drop-in networking groups, weekly support group programs, informational brochures, stress reduction, exercise and mind-body activities, educational lectures and workshops on nutrition and treatment.
