Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals Uses Innovative Tactics to Promote Business with QR Codes

Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals integrates QR codes to connect consumers from print to online

2010-10-09
VAIL, CO, October 09, 2010 (Press-News.org) Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals (RMVR) is using the innovative marketing tool - QR codes - to draw attention to site listings that the company offers via a mobile phone. Created by the corporation Denso-Wave, a sub division of Toyota, this two-dimensional barcode holds more information than a traditional barcode, allowing for more efficient inventory control, and it directly connects consumers to information about a product or service.

"We are always looking for cutting edge and innovative ways to market our product," said Tommy Z. Hoffman, owner and founder of Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals. QR codes are appearing on posters, vehicles, flyers, banners, signs, and business cards. So far, RMVR has placed QR codes on Google Business listings and advertisements in print articles, such as Ski Magazine. The company plans to continue to integrate QR codes into various aspects of their business as this digital phenomenon continues to gain traction.

Today's usage with a smart phone can connect the physical world to the online world. The smart phone -a Blackberry, iPhone, or Android - takes a picture of the QR code, interprets the information from a downloaded application, and brings the consumer to a URL from the screen on their phone. This is great for a vacation rental company, as it allows consumers to bookmark their site listings on the go, as well as represent a more eco-friendly way to narrow down travel searches.

"The placement of QR codes that we've incorporated into ads and web banners is an excellent way to encourage interaction with our website, pictures, and videos," commented Sean Ragsdale, Creative Director at RMVR. "The interplay will provide our clients with the exposure to multiple property options using their mobile phones and make it convenient to share information."

As new technology continues to provide companies with new ways of reaching out to their clients, RMVR has taken note of the fact that information is increasingly being shared via the mobile phone, particularly the smart phone. The use of QR codes will be an exciting tool to connect people on their phones to the services and property listings that Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals has to offer.
