HONOLULU, HI, October 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) Louise, a mail carrier in Kaneohe, Hawaii, searches for, an elderly customer on her delivery route who has mysteriously vanished. A bizarre series of events begins to unfold, shattering Louise's peaceful existence. She is forced to draw on strengths she didn't know she had, to stay one step ahead of a madman. She solves the mystery of the missing woman...and two other unsolved police cases.
Laurie Hanan is the proverbial island girl. She grew up in Kaneohe and Kailua until the age of eleven. Her family moved to the Mariana Islands, where she attended middle and high school. She studied at the University of Washington, moved to Israel, and later to London. She traveled extensively in Europe and Asia before settling again in Hawaii. Laurie retired from the U.S. Postal Service three years ago and lives on Oahu with her husband and two youngest children. When she isn't writing her Louise Golden mysteries, she promotes animal rights and rescue, and practices yoga, meditation, and qi gong.
"Even before I started my career with the Honolulu Post Office, I noticed that mail carriers move about almost invisibly. They become part of the scenery, allowing them to observe the community without being observed themselves," says Hanan. "An avid reader of mysteries since childhood, I thought it would be fun to write a series with a mail carrier as the protagonist. 'Almost Paradise' is the first in what I hope will prove a series of Louise Golden mysteries."
