October 20, 2012 (Press-News.org) DUI Task Force Blitzing Packer Fans
As the professional football season winds to a close, emotions begin to heighten as teams compete to make it to the final game of the season: the Super Bowl. Fans become wrapped up in the successes and failures of their teams. Green Bay Packer fans are some of the most die-hard fans out there, and some Wisconsin police departments believe that a number of Packer fans will get carried away by their enthusiasm for their team and overindulge while watching the NFC division playoff game January 15, 2012. The Brown county OWI Task Force plans on targeting Lambeau Field for a sting operation to catch drunk drivers. Many Packer fans could find themselves facing OWI charges after the game if they are not careful.
Brown County OWI Task Force
The Brown County OWI Task Force is a multijurisdictional team made up of officers from six law enforcement agencies, operating under the auspices of the State Patrol and Bureau of Transportation Safety. A $96,000 federal grant funds the group, and this is the second year that the group has been in operation.
Lambeau Sting Operation
About 10 to 15 officers from the Task Force will be participating in the four hour operation on game day. The officers, wearing special vests and driving marked vehicles, will not be on Lambeau Field property itself. Instead, they will patrol the surrounding area looking for intoxicated drivers. If the Packers make it to the NFC Championship game, the Task Force will be patrolling that game, as well.
The Task Force has only targeted one Packers game in the past, as a "trial run" for the division playoff game operation. Task Force members believe that the operation will be successful in arresting several drivers for OWI. Michael Panosh, regional program manager for the Wisconsin State Patrol's Bureau of Transportation Safety, told reporters that he "did not think it would be difficult" for Task Force members to find intoxicated drivers after a Packers game.
Consult an Attorney
The efforts of the Brown County OWI Task Force are a clear example of how seriously Wisconsin authorities take drinking and driving. The state will not hesitate to prosecute OWI charges to the fullest extent possible. If you are facing charges stemming from drinking and driving, do not hesitate to contact an experience OWI defense attorney who can help achieve the best possible outcome for your situation.

Wisconsin Approves Lower Probable Cause Standard for Some Drivers

The court's decision in this case could have an impact on Wisconsin drivers charged with OWI.
Probable Cause to Test for BAC
Under Wisconsin law, the PAC for most drivers is 0.08. However, drivers with three or ...
