EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ, October 24, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Contemporary Plastic Surgery tent in the staging area of this year's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was overflowing on the morning of Sept. 30 as more than 100 team members showed up to support the fight against breast cancer. As a result of the huge turnout, the plastic surgery practice in New Jersey headed by Dr. Robert Herbstman was awarded the prize for having the largest hospital or doctor team in the event.
"We were delighted to win the prize," says Dr. Herbstman, a board-certified plastic surgeon who heads the practice. "And, we had a great day and a lot of fun at the event. But, what's most important is that our team raises more than $10,000 annually for the Susan G. Komen organization."
While October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Herbstman says that his office will be accepting Race for the Cure donations through Nov. 15.
"Anyone who wants to contribute can contact our office in East Brunswick or our office in Red Bank," he says. "This is my 14th year dedicated to this very worthy cause, and we're eager to do everything we can to help."
Dr. Herbstman and his staff understand the importance of the Race for the Cure and the fight against breast cancer since many of his patients are cancer survivors who come to him for breast reconstruction or breast augmentation in New Jersey.
Team Contemporary, which was made up of staff members, patients and friends of the New Jersey plastic surgery practice, was part of approximately 20,000 people who participated in the 19th annual Susan G. Koman Central and South Jersey Race for the Cure run and walk. The event took place Sept. 30 at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
Dr. Robert Herbstman is a dedicated and trusted board-certified plastic surgeon in New Jersey with more than 20 years of experience. He is an active member of several elite professional organizations, such as The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons. At his plastic surgery practice, Contemporary Plastic Surgery, he provides innovative techniques for popular procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction, abdominoplasty and facelifts. At his Skin Rejuvenation and Laser Center, he offers a variety of medical spa services, including BOTOX Cosmetic, dermal fillers and laser skin resurfacing.
