Michigan Association of CPAs Elects Randlph C. Paschke As Chair of Board of Directors

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, October 31, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) recently announced its new executive committee and Board of Directors. The organization elected Randolph (Randy) C. Paschke as the chair of its board and welcomed three new Board members to an impressive roster of CPA professionals. New members are Richard G. David, CPA, Michelle F. Gallagher and Andrew K. Hubacker.

"The board of directors this year includes MACPA members who are not only great contributors to the organization but also to the industry and their community at large," states Peggy Dzierzawski, president and CEO of the MACPA. "I am especially looking forward to working closely with Randy, who is devoted to seeing that our next generation of members succeed."

The 2012-2013 MACPA Board of Director's Executive Committee will be:

Randolph C. Paschke, Chair: Randy Paschke has served as the chair of the Wayne State University Accounting department since 2002. Having also taught at Macomb County Community College, he has spent more than 30 years in public accounting, consulting and working as a partner at Arthur Andersen. He is a resident of Ann Arbor.

Ramona H. Pearson, Chair Elect: Pearson is the founder, president and CEO of Ramona Henderson Pearson, CPA, P.C. and the Pearson Group, LLC, both in Detroit. She provides public accounting and consulting services to mostly governments and non-profit organizations and is the former Auditor General for Wayne County. Pearson is a frequent speaker to future accounting students at MACPA events. She resides in Detroit.

Doug Roosa, CPA, Treasurer: Since 2009, Roosa has served as the Director of Internal Controls & SOX Compliance with General Motors Company. Prior to joining GM, he served as a general auditor with Masco Corporation and as an independent consultant, amongst other positions with a variety of companies. Involved in numerous organizations and boards of directors, he resides in Ann Arbor.

Stephanie W. Bergeron, MBA, CGMA, Secretary: A resident of Birmingham, Bergeron has been the president and COO of Walsh College since 2007. Prior to joining Walsh, she spent 25 years in automotive industry finance at companies including General Motors and Chrysler. Involved in the community, she serves on numerous boards and has been named, twice, as a "Most Influential Woman" by Crain's Detroit Business.

John Pridnia, Immediate Past Chair: Pridnia is a managing principal at Rehmann in Muskegon. For more than 25 years, he has provided tax, trust and estate planning, private placement insurance and mergers and acquisition services to his clients. Serving on the boards of numerous local organizations, Pridnia resides in Muskegon.

Gregory A. Nowak, Past Chair: Nowak is a principal at Miller Canfield in Detroit. One of Michigan's leading experts on state and local tax issues, he focuses his practice on structural tax planning and state tax issues. In 2008, he received the Thomas Hoatlin Award from the MACPA and, a year later, the organization presented him with a special recognition award for his contribution in the area of state and local taxation. He resides in Oakland Township.

The 2012-2013 MACPA new Board members are:

Richard G. David, CPA: As COO of UHY Advisors, Inc. David directs a range of national firm programs and initiatives. He has more than three decades of experience working with professional service firms and established the gaming industry practice in Michigan. The former member of the Michigan State Board of Accountancy resides in Bloomfield Hills.

Michelle F. Gallagher, CPA/ABV/CFF: Gallagher is the owner of Lansing-based Gallagher & Associates, CPAs, PLC, an accounting and litigation support firm. The Grand Haven resident concentrates her practice on professional services in: accounting, tax, business valuation, forensic accounting, litigation support, determination of damages, pension valuation, mediation, divorce consulting, and business advisory services. In addition to the MACPA, she is involved with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Andrew K. Hubacker, CPA: A resident of Bloomfield Hills, Hubacker has served as a partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP since 2008. Prior to his current position, he was a vice president, assistant controller at AOL; senior manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP; and assistant chief at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
