NEW HUDSON, MI, November 05, 2012
Buy American! We have all heard this and many of us really try to do so whenever possible. One Michigan based home builder, Echelon Homes, and the local BIA, are taking this saying to a whole new level.Earlier this year the Building Industry Association of Southeastern Michigan announced they would be bringing a new home building program to Michigan. A Made in America, Built in Michigan home. Michael Stoskopf, from the Building Industry Association of Southeastern Michigan, learned about the Made in America building project about a year ago.
The project concept is to build a new construction home with 100% American made products whenever possible. The home is being built in Echelon Homes Lyon Township community, Twin Pines, and is set to be completed by the end of this month.
According to Rick Elkow, President of Echelon Homes, the home building process has been "a learning experience" for him as well as the company's trade partners. "The bad new is there are not many building materials made in Michigan, let alone the US, but the good new is with this project we are hoping to change that and hopefully it will provide more jobs for our Michigan residents", said Elkow.
One of the main goals of the project is to highlight American made products and intrigue more suppliers to offer more American made products. If more products and materials are American made this will positively affect our economy with more jobs and opportunities for economic growth.
There will be a ceremony at the home located at 59618 Twin Pines Drive in New Hudson, on November 13, 2012 at 1:30pm. Individuals may tour the home and inquire on information regarding Made in America home building products and materials.
