Appalachian Trail Conservancy is Now Accepting Grant Applications for 2013 Trail Projects in Tennessee

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) is pleased to announce that applications for the 2013 Appalachian Trail (A.T.) License Plate Grant Program are being accepted until Monday, January 21, 2013.

HARPERS FERRY, WV, November 08, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) is pleased to announce that applications for the 2013 Appalachian Trail (A.T.) License Plate Grant Program are being accepted until Monday, January 21, 2013. The ATC will be awarding a total of $10,000 for a broad range of A.T. related projects in Tennessee. These funds are generated from the sales and renewals of Tennessee A.T. specialty license plates.

The ATC is seeking individuals and partner organizations, including Trail clubs; schools; botanists and ecologists; environmental and conservation groups; and civic organizations, to submit applications for this grant program. Projects can be related to the physical Trail and its facilities; major public-service projects; the enhancement of Trail clubs' long-term A.T. management abilities; natural heritage and environmental monitoring; education and outreach; and Appalachian Trail Community partnerships.

Grant funds must be spent in Tennessee. Individual grant requests should not exceed $5,000.

From each license plate, $15.62 is donated to the ATC to support Trail related work in the state, including the grant program, the ATC's land acquisition efforts and the work of its Southern Regional Office located in Asheville, North Carolina.
