HOBOKEN, NJ, November 15, 2012 (Press-News.org) NAV-3D Technologies, a pioneer in the field of 3D multimedia entertainment devices, today announced the launch of their new line of glasses free 3D media players, cameras and camcorders. Incorporating the latest advancements in 3D technology, three new NAV-3D media players eliminate the need for users to wear 3D glasses to view 3D content. In addition, three new NAV-3D digital cameras make it easy to capture and share 3D photos and videos in ways never thought possible. Users can easily transfer content between NAV-3D devices via USB or SD memory cards, and all products share a universal file format, making it possible to transfer files to and from other 3D devices.
Last month over 24,000 professional and amateur photographers, filmmakers and digital imaging specialists gathered at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City for the PDN Photo Plus International Expo to experience the latest technological innovations the world of photography and film making has to offer. Attendees came from around the world for the opportunity to discover new products, watch live performances, attend seminars and interact with other photography enthusiasts.
In the midst of all the excitement, NAV-3D (Booth #479) introduced a unique line of innovative 3D multimedia entertainment devices that takes capturing and sharing 3D content to a whole new level. Those in attendance had the benefit of participating in hands-on demonstrations, filming themselves in 3D and viewing the results live in person without ever having to wear 3D glasses.
"We are really excited about the NAV-3D product line" said Matthew Gross, CEO and Founder of NAV-3D. "Seeing everyone's reaction for the first time is like watching kids in a candy store. I don't think we could have predicted such an overwhelmingly favorable response to an initial product launch."
The NAV3D6, NAV3D8 and NAV3D8B digital media players come equipped with a stereoscopic 6" or 8" parallax barrier 3D displays, ideal for watching full length 3D movies or viewing homemade 3D videos and photos with just your naked eyes. The parallax barrier is a layer of material embedded into the screen that contains a set of precision slits, forcing each eye to see a unique set of pixels, thus creating a sense of depth.
"I could see you putting this in front of a kid and having them be enthralled for hours," said Tarina Peterson, a professional graphic designer from NYC. "This is like instant entertainment. I do like the fact that you don't have to wear glasses. I would definitely recommend this."
"The visual is really cool," said Mimi Fuhrman, a photography enthusiast from NJ. "I've seen the 3D TVs but with the glasses on, not like this."
The NAV3DCAM-12 can capture 3D videos in high definition (1920x1080 resolution) or up to 16.0-Megapixel still images (with interpolation) while letting users preview the 3D effect instantly using a 3.2" parallax display 3D viewfinder. The NAV3DCAM-10 and NAV3DCAM-11 incorporate this same 3D display technology, but capture videos with a maximum of WVGA or 720P resolution (respectively).
"[It's] incredible," said Bill Cole, president of the Northeast Photography Club, referring to the NAV3DCAM-12. "Really what I'm most impressed about is the price. You've got a great tool, seriously."
"It comes right at you!" exclaimed Katherine Groft, photography intern and student at Pratt Institute. "I've never seen that before, you could do so many things with that. I would love to play with this."
By the time the show was over, thousands of visitors and hundreds of subscribers were all looking to buy NAV-3D cameras and media players, both for themselves and as gifts for friends and family for the upcoming holiday season. Additionally, NAV-3D offers a library of full length downloadable 3D movies directly on their website, making it easy for their customers to build their own 3D movie collection without having to convert a digital copy from 3D DVDs and Blu-Rays.
Pricing and Availability
The NAV3D6 Glasses Free 3D Digital Media Player is priced at $199, and the NAV3D8 and NAV3D8B are both priced at $299. The NAV3DCAM-10 is priced at $199, the NAV3DCAM-11 at $299, and the NAV3DCAM-12 at $399. NAV-3D currently has limited units available for special order for which there is a 1-3 week delivery time.
