FRANKLIN, MA, October 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Woodshed Gallery in Franklin, Massachusetts will present original fine art paintings by Franklin artist Susan Pratt Sheridan, October 19 through November 20. The solo exhibition is titled "New England Landscapes" and is the fifth in a series of exhibitions showcasing outstanding local artists. The public is invited to an opening reception for the artist on Saturday, October 23, from 3PM to 5PM.
This exhibition is an outstanding opportunity for Boston-area residents to view an extended range of Susan Pratt Sheridan's award-winning watercolor paintings. Over twenty works of recently-made art will be displayed in this solo exhibition.
Pratt Sheridan's paintings frequently depict the beautiful and ever changing New England landscape. Always ready for inspiration, she says "I always travel with my paints and sketchbook in hand."
Several paintings on display are the result of painting trips to Bailey Island, Maine, where the artist was motivated by the local fishing industry and the unspoiled coastline.
However, for Susan Pratt Sheridan painting is more than making a recording of the natural beauty before her. She explains, "Creating a piece of art is a journey whose final destination is not known. Whatever the inspiration may be, it is the conversation between this, the artist and medium that triggers the marks that create a new reality. It is during this process that we access the deep well of visual memory that excites us when the work acquires a life of its own on paper or canvas."
A Long time Franklin resident, Susan Pratt Sheridan lives with husband John in Franklin and works out of her home studio. She is well known locally as the President of the Franklin Art Association, and is an appointed member of the Franklin Cultural Council. She is an avid golfer (past Ladies Club Champion of Wentworth Hills Country Club), a Choir member of the Universalist Society of Franklin, and has been a Literacy Volunteer for many years at the Franklin Public Library.
This new exhibition program by The Woodshed Gallery is designed to present the community with the opportunity to view world-class art being created by their neighbors. The program also helps artists take control of their presentations and advance their careers.
