RALEIGH, NC, November 22, 2012 (Press-News.org) Horizon Forest Products is proud to announce its recent participation in the William E. Judah Memorial Golf Tournament. The event, sponsored by the South Norfolk Golf Association, was held on October 20th at the Bide a Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth, VA. Horizon Forest Products donated $400 and had team members participate in the day-long event, which raised money for the non-profit group Wounded Wear.
Wounded Wear's mission is to raise the national awareness of the sacrifice of wounded warriors, their families, and the families of fallen service members. In support of this mission, Wounded Wear advocates on behalf and facilitates opportunities for those who have sacrificed so much, as well as provide free fashionable clothing kits and modifications to wounded warriors that empower them to rediscover the hero within.
Representing Horizon Forest Products in this year's golf event was David Williams (Vice President), Chris Williams (Branch Manager), and Kenny Eldredge (Operations Manager). This is the company's second year of supporting this event, and Williams says that he is already looking forward to his company's participation next year.
"Horizon Forest Products believes in helping those less fortunate and in need," says Williams. "As a company, we are committed to having a positive impact on our community and are proud that several of our branches have taken the initiative to develop their own community outreach programs. We all experienced a wonderful day of golf and felt great knowing that we were helping such a worthwhile charity and cause."
The South Norfolk Golf Association is a non-profit organization comprised of individuals committed to improving the lives of those in need throughout their community. The William E. Judah Memorial Golf Tournament is the association's main fundraising event and provides an excellent opportunity for fellow golfers and area citizens to network. Barry Ennis, President of the South Norfolk Golf Association, says that over the years, the association has been able to help many individuals and places through their fundraising efforts. He says community and business support enable his organization to do so much for so many.
"If it wasn't for the generosity of companies like Horizon Forest Products, we wouldn't be able to help kids like David Spisak, a three-year old riddled with cancer, or Michael Old who suffered a severe spinal injury, or Steve Groves, a fellow member with kidney disease. It is our desire and commitment to make sure that these stories...and many more...have a happy ending."
