NEW YORK, NY, November 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) Pristinely realistic, yet temperately and poetically abstract in style, the works of American painter Catherine Raynes portray effortless, graceful beauty. With sumptuous painterly strokes in a lush maritime palette, these paintings are faithful testaments to a life of coastal living, and to the artist's experiences as the daughter of a naval architect. Indeed, Raynes's works are deftly and carefully drafted, with an elegant abstraction that conjures the hazy atmosphere of coastal environs. Transfixing and transformative, the works communicate a lively joy and elegance, urging us to find and relish exquisiteness in our own lives. "If for one moment a person can feel a sense of peace or beauty in this world, then I've done my job," says Raynes. "I seek to speak to people through my work. The use of light and composition with emotion — I hope this resonates with my audience and they are transported to that place they connect with."
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Catherine Raynes lives and works on the coast of New Hampshire. Her work has been widely exhibited throughout New England and New York.

About the Exhibition
The days may be getting shorter, but you'll forget all dark thoughts when you see Robert Oelman's astounding photography in his solo exhibition entitled Treasures of the Amazon Rainforest. Robert Oelman lives and works in exotic locations to capture insects, fauna, flora and panoramas whose existence and beauty is unseen and unsuspected by the majority of the world. The result is images that introduce wholly new creatures, broadening scientific knowledge, recording them for posterity, and possessing a mysterious, marvelous beauty. There are two excellent collective exhibitions on at the same time. Intriguing, challenging and magical, the works in Unbound Perspectives blend personal vision with individual experience to create a paradoxically universal appeal. Touching on matters of the deepest emotional and practical importance, this is art which refuses to acknowledge the existence of any barriers or boundaries other than those chosen and defined by the artists. In The Persistence of Form, these talented artists turn the fruits of their meticulous observations of life and its complexities into wonderful, stirring works that seem to initiate the viewer into the miraculous secrets of the world. Clever, creative and compelling, these artworks transform what we know and expect into something fresh and transcendent. The exhibitions open on November 27, 2012 and continue until December 18, 2012. The opening reception will take place on the evening of Thursday November 29, 2012, and art enthusiasts are invited to attend, admire and enjoy.
