HONOLULU, HI, October 15, 2010 (Press-News.org) In "Perilous Panacea," despite repeated assurances by the United States government that security surrounding weapons grade nuclear material plutonium is invulnerable, that Department of Energy security is nonetheless breached by a computer wizard. Bankrolled by Iranians, some of the plutonium and weapons-grade uranium is actually stolen, enough to manufacture one or more atomic bombs. Suddenly, a blackmailed Iranian expatriate and two kidnapped American scientists are all that stand between the world and nuclear catastrophe.
A former Research Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory with a Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Material Science, Ronald Klueh brings a wealth of scientific knowledge and experience to contemporary techno-thriller fiction. A freelance science writer (Washington Post, Popular Mechanics, New Scientist), he makes the present and future interesting for adventure as well as romance readers.
"'Perilous Panacea,' is all about how the U.S. Department of Energy's 'invulnerable' twentieth century nuclear security might be breached by twenty-first century computer technology, ratcheting terrorism to new heights," says Klueh. "The title refers to the extreme dichotomy of modern nuclear science: a panacea of unlimited energy without the pollution of fossil-fired power plants, and the perils of nuclear weapons, with their ability to cause mass destruction and chaos. Fast-paced and all-too-possible, 'PeriolousPerilous Panacea' is a nuclear thriller for the twenty-first century!"
"Perilous Panacea" by Ronald Klueh - 364 pages - 6" x 9." Color softcover. ISBN 978-0-9845552-3-9. Suggested retail price $16.95. Released in Oct 2010 by Savant Books and Publications, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
