TILDEN, NE, December 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) Mary Carrick has been making her mark as a cabaret singer across the Midwest with her rich, soaring vocals and gift for storytelling. She and pianist/vocalist Todd Brooks will bring their Holiday-themed cabaret show, "Silver Bells and Candy Canes" to the Tilden Public Library on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
The dynamic pair promises an intimate and delightful evening of song that blends festive and seasonal favorites with their trademark touch of humorous gems. Their set list includes standards from the Great American Songbook, songs from the musical theater, and traditional carols with a fresh approach, with music by Frank Loesser, Jule Styne, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerry Herman, Irving Berlin, John Jacob Niles, and more.
"One of my favorite times of the year is when one of our local radio stations moves to its 'all-Holiday, all the time' format. The music of the season gets me in the spirit, takes me back to childhood, and warms my heart. It helps me tap into what the Holidays mean to me," said Carrick. "Our show is full of songs that are familiar and nostalgic, along with lighthearted, toe-tapping tunes and a fun medley that may even spur a sing along. Todd and I are looking forward to a wonderful and memorable evening in Tilden."
The Tilden Public Library is located at 202 South Center Street in Tilden, Nebraska. The concert is free to the public.
Based in Omaha, Nebraska Carrick performs regularly with Opera Omaha and the Rose Theatre, one of the largest professional children's theatres in the country. Carrick has also performed with the Omaha Symphony, Omaha Community Playhouse, and many other theatres across the Omaha region. She is a student of Tony Award-winning singer and actress, Betty Buckley.
Brooks is an accomplished director, music director, and arranger. Most recently he served as director and music director for ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, with the Papillion La-Vista Community Theater. Other recent projects include director of NEXT FALL with SNAP Productions and HAPPY DAYS: THE MUSICAL with the Chanticleer Theater.
