ST. PETERSBURG, FL, December 14, 2012 (Press-News.org) Neighborhood Home Solutions, a not-for-profit community development organization based in St. Petersburg, has just announced former Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink as their guest speaker for this Saturday's 'Hope & Help' event.
The free event for homeowners is Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 9:30am to noon at the Tampa Westshore Crowne Plaza Hotel. The purpose of the event is to offer hope and give help to those hardest hit by the collapse of the housing market, and Sink will be offering her words of hope by addressing how to get financials in order for 2013 and beyond.
"It is so important to ensure the financial stability of families in the Tampa Bay area", said Alex Sink, former Florida Chief Financial Officer. "We are fortunate to have a number of non-profits whose mission is to educate & counsel families in need."
Homeowners will be given free mortgage assistance and information on foreclosure prevention. They will also learn how they can build a more solid financial foundation in the New Year. In addition, homeowners who were part of a foreclosure action on their primary residence in 2009 or 2010 will learn if they may be eligible for a free Independent Foreclosure Review and compensation or other remedy if the review finds that they were financially injured because of errors in the foreclosure process.
The Independent Foreclosure Review came out of a legal agreement between federal bank regulators and 14 mortgage-servicing companies over abusive mortgage servicing practices. The IFR is giving homeowners an opportunity to have an unbiased third party review their foreclosure and determine if they might qualify for a cash payout of up to $125,000.
Neighborhood Home Solutions is dedicated to helping people improve their financial well being, informing homeowners avoiding foreclosure and serving as an advocate for families struggling with mortgage issues.
This event is free and complimentary refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 9:30am; the first 20 families will receive a $50 holiday gift card. There will also be an Apple iPod giveaway. Event attendance is limited, RSVP to 727.821.6897, or online at http://www.nhsfl.org.
Information about the Independent Foreclosure Review is available at IndependentForeclosureReview.com or by calling 1.888.952.9105 Monday through Friday, 8am - 10pm EDT or Saturday, 8am - 5pm EDT.
