RALEIGH, NC, December 28, 2012 (Press-News.org) Triangle Family Services (TFS) (https://www.tfsnc.org/), an organization dedicated to helping families in crisis, has announced its next series of financial literacy seminars. The organization's mission is to build a stronger community by strengthening the family, and one of the ways that it does this is through providing individual financial counseling services to families and individuals. These financial literacy workshops focus on a wide variety of topics, including foreclosure prevention, credit repair and ways to save.
The schedule of workshops is as follows:
- MMP Info Session: These sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Dates for upcoming classes are Jan. 3, 10, 17 and 24; Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28; and March 7, 14, 21 and 28. Attendees will learn about the NC Foreclosure Prevention Fund money available for those who have lost their jobs due to no fault of their own or for those who have experienced temporary setbacks. The fund pays or catches individuals up on their mortgages while looking for work.
- Mortgage Zone: These sessions will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Dates for upcoming classes are Jan. 23, Feb. 13, and March 6 and 27. Attendees will learn about the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) and other programs that can help make mortgage payment manageable. Additionally, they will learn how to navigate the loan modification process with banks.
- Empowerment Zone: These sessions will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Dates for upcoming classes include: Jan. 9 and 30, Feb. 20 and March 13. This budget and credit workshop covers all issues that most clients experience. Attendees will learn how to save, improve their credit scores and deal with credit repair.
- Credit Repair: Myth of Magic: These sessions are hosted from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Dates for upcoming classes include: Jan. 16, Feb. 6 and 27, and March 20. Attendees will learn the why, how and when of repairing bad credit. The workshop covers charge-offs, collections, judgments and bankruptcy. Triangle Family Services will explain in detail how to dispute inaccuracies and boost their score.
- First Time Homebuyers: This is a full-day event hosted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. Attendees will discuss how to make the home buying process successful with certified counselors and other professionals. Certificate will be issued.
- Ways To Save: The Super Shopper: This class will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5. Attendees will learn how to stretch a dollar as much as possible.
