Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort To Track Adopted Sea Turtle's Year-Long Journey
Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort, a Cabo San Lucas luxury hotel, recently adopted an adult female olive ridley turtle which will be tracked via satellite for about one year.

Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort is committed to the conservation of the region's natural wildlife. In an effort to preserve the endangered sea turtles, the luxury Cabo San Lucas hotel has partnered with local environmental authorities and the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to learn about the sea turtles' migration paths in the ocean; an initiative that will assist in the conservation studies of the endangered species. The resort has adopted an olive ridley sea turtle, Renata, and will follow its journey via satellite for approximately one year.Renata, an adult female olive ridley sea turtle, named by the resort's Facebook fans, was released on October 1, 2010 after a special "Fiesta for Renata" hosted on-property. Over 500 resort guests and locals were part of an educational celebration as they watched Renata embark on her journey through the world's waters. The Hilton Los Cabos is a proud co-founder of the Los Cabos Sea Turtle Protection Program and every year during the nesting periods, certified hotel personnel patrol a 3.5 mile stretch of beachfront. They carefully remove the turtle eggs from their nests and keep them safe in a special corral located on the resort´s beach. This year the resort has protected over 22,000 turtle eggs and 202 nests.
