MISSISSAUGA, ON, February 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Mississauga Food Bank is once again a charitable recipient of the Mississauga Marathon. Teams can register to participate in one of the marathon events and setup a profile page to raise support on behalf of the food bank.
With the help of marathon participants, the goal is to raise $20,000 to fight hunger in Mississauga. The Mississauga Food Bank hopes to distribute 60,000 meals with the money raised from the marathon. 60,000 meals will make a tremendous difference for the 65,000 clients that depend on the food bank each month.
Participants are encouraged to visit The Mississauga Food Bank website (www.themississaugafoodbank.org) for details on how to register and fundraise. People can sign up as individuals, families or teams. There are several events to choose from that are suitable for those that are marathon enthusiast and not. Participants will receive food bank t-shirts and reduced registration fees. Free registration is also available for a limited time.
According to Meghan Nicholls, Marketing & Fund Development Director of The Mississauga Food Bank, "We were a proud partner of the Mississauga Marathon last year and are happy to take part again in their 10th anniversary. It is a great opportunity for people to have fun, get exercise and support our involvement in the community."
The Mississauga Food Bank is the largest food distribution program in Mississauga, Ontario serving almost 2 million meals each year through 111 food programs, including the city's seven neighbourhood food banks.
