SARASOTA, FL, February 28, 2013 (Press-News.org) Well-known Sarasota attorney and CPA Jo Ann Koontz and CPA Marina Parkin have launched Koontz & Parkin, CPA.
Koontz will continue to own and operate Koontz & Associates, PL, a Sarasota law firm focusing on residential and commercial real estate transactions, federal and state tax law and business law.
"Marina brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record," said Koontz, "ensuring that we can provide our clients with strategic tax planning and comprehensive solutions for federal, state, local and international tax issues."
Parkin earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada, in 1999, and worked for Deloitte in Toronto, Canada, for four years, where she gained experience in both audit and tax.
She received her Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 2001 and her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in 2003. Shortly thereafter she moved to Sarasota, Florida, where she continued to focus on various areas of taxation, including tax planning and compliance services to individuals, corporations, partnerships and other entities. She is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO). A licensed CPA in Florida and Illinois, Parkin is also a Chartered Accountant in Canada.
Koontz has a dual certification as an attorney and CPA, and is a sought-after presenter on the tax implications of real estate transactions, short sales and foreclosures, as well as other legal matters. An Ohio native, she earned her Bachelor in Business Administration in 2001 and her law degree in 2006, both from Ohio Northern University. She earned her CPA license in 2003.
