QUEENS, NY, March 02, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Human Growth Foundation will host a 4.8k Step Up and Walk community event on April 21, 2013, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park (Fountain of the Planets) in Corona, New York. The walkathon will raise awareness of childhood growth disorders and funds for research, education, support and advocacy. The event is presented by EMD Serono and hosted by the Human Growth Foundation, a national, non-profit organization whose mission is to help children and adults with disorders of growth and growth hormone deficiency by providing research, education, support and advocacy.
The event is open to all ages, all abilities and leashed pets.
"It is estimated that 10,000 to 15,000 children in the United States have growth failure due to growth hormone," says Human Growth Foundation President Dr. Pisit "Duke" Pitukcheewanont. "We want the community to show strong support on behalf of the children and families affected by hormone growth deficiency, including intrauterine growth retardation, Russell-Silver syndrome, Turner's syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Noonan's syndrome, and chondroplasias."
Step Up and Walk will feature dignitaries, celebrities, entertainment, exhibit booths, giveaways, and awards to Top Fundraising Walkers and Teams.
Entry donations are $10 for ages 18 and under, and $25 for adults. Registrants will receive an event tee shirt, breakfast, and refreshments.
