BALTIMORE, MD, March 08, 2013 (Press-News.org) First announced in March 2013 at performances of Macbeth, Baltimore Concert Opera (BCO) opened the fundraising campaign '25.4.5' for $25,000 to help ensure the organization's ongoing sustainability going into its 5th season this Fall. The 25.4.5 campaign will run from March 1 through May 5, 2013 and will help guarantee BCO's fifth season of production and expansion.
"Last year was a very important year for Baltimore Concert Opera when we received an anonymous donation of $20,000 to be used in a match, which we then exceeded matching to the tune of over $40,000. This allowed us to move from a volunteer organization and start hiring staff to expand our roles in the areas of administration, development and production," states Dennis Ferguson, Board President.
Julia Cooke, BCO's Executive Director, feels the 25.4.5 campaign is pivotal to ensuring the organization's continued growth. "There is a psychological weight to an arts organization's fifth season. It signals strength, stability and vitality. In one sense, it feels like only yesterday that we were mounting our inaugural production of Don Giovanni using little more than sheer force of will and the remaining balance of a credit card. Now, we are selling out performances and have a patron mailing list of nearly 4,000. We are balancing our singers' schedules against their commitments at the Metropolitan Opera and other renowned houses."
After four years and seventeen productions at the Engineers Club, Baltimore Concert Opera continues to operate in the black. BCO is currently in its fourth season with continual sellout performances. Baltimore Concert Opera continues to look for opportunities to improve and grow, to enhance the patrons' experience and introduce the operatic art form to a wider and newer audience. "We feel elated and incredibly honored that so many people find value in what we do." said Brendan Cooke, Artistic Director. "As we continue to grow, this funding will enable BCO to reach new goals in the way of development, collaboration, and education."
BCO presents its next performance of Bizet's Carmen on May 3 & May 5. Performances are held at The Engineers Club where they are artists in residence. For more information or to make a tax-deductible donation, please visit http://www.baltimoreconcertopera.com. BCO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Baltimore Concert Opera creates an experience that captures the core essence of opera, the connection between the audience and the human voice. We are devoted to building new audiences and ensuring a future for the world of opera while providing performance and networking opportunities to professional singers from around the world. Baltimore Concert Opera is a 501(c)(3)
organization.
