Securus, Inc. Releases SpotLite 2.0 to Enhance Pet Protection

Latest Version of GPS Pet Locator is now Waterproof to Help Track Pets in Any Environment

2013-03-09
CARY, NC, March 09, 2013 (Press-News.org) Securus, Inc., proud maker of groundbreaking mobile safety and security products, today announced the release of SpotLite 2.0, an advanced GPS pet locator that enables users to keep their best friends safe. Like the original SpotLite, the 2.0 version enables pet owners to keep tabs on companion animals 24/7 online or via their Apple, BlackBerry or Android smartphone or tablet device, or by sending a text message, and view turn-by-turn GPS directions to recover lost pets. The new waterproof version debuts just in time to locate pets in Securus's recently added coverage areas of Alaska and Hawaii.

SpotLite 2.0 purchases come with lifetime enrollment in American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery's (AKC CAR) service, which provides 24/7 recovery support. Users can establish SafeSpots (such as their yard or neighborhood) and receive text messages or email alerts when a pet leaves the designated area, along with location updates every 30 seconds in continuous tracking mode. Pet owners can use a single dashboard login to track multiple devices.

The small, lightweight device attaches to the pet's collar in seconds with the included protective pouch, and it also comes with a wall charger and AKC CAR collar tag with a unique identification number. The device is equipped with an SOS button that alerts the pet's owner when pressed. SpotLite 2.0 devices also come with a one-year warranty, and an affordable service fee includes on-demand, real-time tracking anytime.

The new waterproof design is ideal for pets that are attracted to water (such as Labrador Retrievers) or animals that may encounter wet conditions outside. SpotLite 2.0 also includes a patented alert design to ensure pet owners receive accurate, timely information on their companion animal's current whereabouts.

"AKC Companion Animal Recovery is committed to reuniting lost animals with their owners," said Tom Sharp, CEO of AKC Companion Animal Recovery, the nation's largest not-for-profit pet identification and 24/7 recovery service provider. "We're thrilled to work with Securus to help pet owners locate and recover the animals that enrich their lives."

"Companion animals are more than just pets," said Christopher D. Newton, President and CEO of Securus, Inc. "They're part of the family. At Securus Inc., we're proud to do our part to keep our customers' pets safe and are continuously looking at new ways to enhance the products and services we offer and respond to customer needs."
