New Project Management Standards - PMBOK Guide and ISO 21500:2012 - Accompany Managers in the Rapidly Changing Business World. What is New in These Professional Standards?
2013-03-11
LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND, March 11, 2013 (Press-News.org) A comprehensive analysis of the differences between the 4th and 5th Editions of the PMBOK Guide published by the Project Management Institute, Inc. and the recent ISO 21500:2012 standard has been compiled by Swiss-based STS Sauter Training & Simulation, Inc. This document is available free of charge as a download from www.sts.ch/pmbok5.

On 31st December 2012, the Project Management Institute (PMI ) published the 5th edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK ) Guide. A few months earlier, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published a new standard, ISO 21500:2012, Guidance on Project Management. The two releases of the PMBOK Guide and ISO 21500 standard are very close. Therefore, STS has compiled a detailed review of the differences and similarities between them.

ISO 21500:2012 uses most of the processes in the PMBOK Guide 4th Edition but it has introduced minor adaptations; for example, the risk knowledge area has been repositioned, as has human resource management. The major change relates to stakeholder management; a corresponding subject group (aka knowledge area) has been introduced by ISO, which also appears in the new release of the PMBOK Guide.

Consistency between the PMBOK Guide and ISO standards will certainly help the profession. Moreover, PMI certifications will continue to promote structured project management, and project managers (or associates) will help a number of organizations align their project management processes with ISO recommendations. The PMI confirms its leading position in certifying program managers, project managers and associates who will feel "at home" in ISO-oriented organizations.

The Swiss company STS SA has specialized in project management training since 1996. Its software has been translated into 21 languages and is used in 50 countries. STS SA is the creator of innovative software solutions for project management training, which includes the project management simulator SimulTrain , individual online e-learning for project management professionals, certification preparation simulation and collaborative training tools. 2013-03-11
The new moniker simplifies the firm's brand to reflect the one name that has consistently appeared on the firm's marquee since 1979. "All too often, law firm names change because an individual partner joins or leaves," said the equity partners of the firm in a joint statement. "The external focus, then, shifts to the people involved instead of on the firm's work. The vision of George Martin when establishing this firm over three decades ...

Say, for example, you ran a quick search for pornography on the internet or through file-sharing software. Ten 'hits' come up, you select all to download, walk over the kitchen to grab a ...
