Train Aid Awarded Contract With LLTC
Training provider wins contract to help LLTC maintain its safety record across five South Eastern depots.
SURREY, ENGLAND, March 12, 2013
Train Aid Ltd has been presented with the task of ensuring that the London Lawn Turf Company meets its requirements in the field of Health & Safety. Train Aid will provide three yearly courses that will certify all employees in the fields of first aid and manual handling training, and will subsequently cover them against any damages / libels. The contract was awarded to this particular provider, owing to their capacity to deliver courses that have a strong practical relevance to the workplace. All employees will need to be trained every three years in order to keep up to date with the full health & safety protocol. The LLTC are the biggest supplier of trade and retail turf within the South East of England. The company distributes rolls of turf to a wide geographical audience using a combination of light and heavy goods vehicles. This in itself can sometimes prove dangerous and often requires complete concentration. Both first aid and manual handling skills are essential in the event of an accident.
There is still a requirement to lift 1000's of rolls of turf across the depots each day, despite the wonders of modern machinery. Manual handling training courses can help ensure that employees are aware of the risks involved with lifting objects incorrectly. Train Aid has successfully completed this element of the company's health & safety requirement, and was able to tailor the courses to suit the needs of yard workers. It's more than just about ticking the boxes, whereby employees are shown practical examples of lifting techniques, which can help reduce the number of injuries that occur.
Yards are notoriously hazardous environments, where there are a wide range of heavy, sharp and powerful objects. Standards within the industry are very high, whereby accidents rarely even occur. However the industry is still considered high risk, and things pop up time from time that requires the administration of treatment. This has resulted in Train Aid providing first aid training courses for all of the staff across the five depots. They are now all prepared and certified to step in and help in the event of an accident. A spokesman from the company summed up his feelings on the matter:
"We are generally pleased that all of our staff members are in the process of becoming fully certified in the field of Health & Safety. This has been a lengthy process, but we feel that it is more than worthwhile in the long run.
The current contract stipulates that all staff will refresh their skills at the expiration of their certificates (three years).
Train Aid Ltd deliver both affordable and enjoyable training courses that place a strong emphasis on teaching practical skills that are relevant to real life.
