Author Donates 10% of Book Sales to LGBT Youth

10% of the first year's book sales for Tell Me, the debut novel by Deanna DiLorenzo, is being donated to help support LGBT youth in Western New York.

BUFFALO, NY, March 14, 2013

Charitable acts don't always come easy but for Buffalo, NY author, Deanna DiLorenzo, the decision to donate 10% of the first year's book sales of her debut novel, Tell Me, to Gay & Lesbian Youth Services of WNY was simple.

"It just made sense," Deanna says. "The book is geared toward a lesbian & bisexual audience. I knew I wanted to donate some of the proceeds to a GLBT cause but I wasn't sure which one. Then I came across Gay & Lesbian Youth Services of WNY."

Gay & Lesbian Youth Services of WNY is an organization that provides opportunities and services to LGBT youth ages 14-21 in Western New York. On the organization's website, LGBT youth can find everything from upcoming events and celebrations, to information about suicide prevention and bullying.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Deanna moved to Buffalo in 2004. Although not a Western New York native, she considers it home.

"It's been home since the day I arrived," she says. "People in WNY are unlike people anywhere else. It's a very welcoming part of the country."

Tell Me is Deanna's first full-length novel and she describes the protagonist as "flawed, not always likeable, but you're rooting for her nonetheless. At 26 years old Meagan is falling in love with another woman for the first time in her life. If she got through that gracefully, it wouldn't be real. Few people are graceful in the moments that shock them."

Tell Me was released on February 20, 2013 and can be found on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Tell-Me-Deanna-DiLorenzo/dp/0988975009.
