HIGH PEAK, ENGLAND, March 15, 2013 (Press-News.org) The UK's largest industrial crane and hoist producer, Street Crane Company, has launched an initiative to recruit the next generation of engineers to take the business forward. Reflecting the importance of the programme, it is led by director of development, Chris Russell. He explained, "We are a rapidly developing business, at the top of our industry, so we have exceptional career opportunities for talented engineers looking for professional challenges and development."
The company is looking for recruits at three levels. Post A-level/ONC, trainees can join as junior engineers and will be sponsored through HNC/D and possibly to degree level. Undergraduate engineers, who have completed their first year of a BEng degree, are invited to apply for sponsored training places. Under this scheme the company will give some support for tuition fees, with paid vacation experience and industrial placement as part of their degree programme. Full time positions are available for these trainees on graduation. The company also has immediate vacancies for recently graduated engineers seeking their first professional appointment.
HR manager Kathy Travis explained, "It can be a problem recruiting the right people at the right time. This programme aims to nurture home grown talent and is linked to the general development plan for the business so that we can move skilled people into appropriate roles as the company develops. As a family business Street Crane has a positive ethos, offers competitive rates of pay, good conditions of employment and has an exceptional record of employee retention and progression."
Chris Russell concluded, "We have a rolling programme of investment in new factory crane and hoist development for world markets. Selected applicants will be working on live projects that are intellectually challenging using advanced modelling and design tools. Our culture rewards talent and trainees will have the opportunity to follow the career path of many of our senior people who have advanced by developing their skills to build rewarding careers."
Street manufacture cranes for all branches of industry from primary metal production and stockholding through all branches of engineering to construction components, aerospace and automotive. The company is not just the largest crane supplier in the UK, but a significant exporter shipping hoists and other high value components to a network of over 70 overseas distributors.
