LA SPEZIA, ITALY, October 27, 2010 (Press-News.org) Following its successful hosting of the Louis Vuitton Trophy, the unique Mediterranean marina resort of Porto Arsenale La Maddalena, renowned for the weather which makes it an unrivalled sailing venue and for the warm welcome it extends, reconfirms its attendance at the Salone Internazionale di Genova and looks forward to its candidacy as a venue for one of the stages of the next America's Cup race, the 34th, scheduled for 2013.
With the eyes of the sailing world upon it, the news from Porto Arsenale for the coming season is that moorings and residential units will begin to be released this autumn.
These developments to nautical facilities and residential units will mark the second phase of the major modernisation and reconstruction project at the former arsenal.
The Marina
On completion of reclamation work, which began in August and is due to be completed in December 2010, the jetties, internal docks and auxiliary equipment will be installed, and the marina will be ready to offer all planned services by the start of the 2011 season.
In addition, guests will have access to relaxation areas, a swimming pool and various sports facilities.
The residential units
The newly designed residential area maintains the original layout of the two structures known as "borghetto" and "stecca". The eighteenth century atmosphere of the arsenal buildings has been revitalised by a restrained development plan that preserves the site's memories, history and early artefacts. The austere military architecture, masonry and wrought ironwork is at the core of the "garden loft borghetto" project, but there are also attractive gardens, shady porticoes, and inspiring coastal views. The aim has been to create an environment in which houses, and internal and external areas, demonstrate continuity, conserved and put to new use with a contemporary and modern touch to finishes, fittings and everyday objects.
Rather than the "modernised antiquity" that often trivialises and impoverishes modern restorations, the effects of human activity and the passage of time will be evident in a deliberately "fane" atmosphere that preserves the site's unique features, suggesting a pleasant suspension of time's flow.
A different impact comes from the creative mood of the "garden loft stecca", where the antique atmosphere is interpreted through forms and colours, dividing the spaces of the past from lively, original and modern environments such as the hotel, and creating a unique relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The residences, with adjacent mooring available, represent an excellent investment and offer a holiday style. A range of services, such as the "boat or home service" for home meal delivery, and babysitting, or beautician services at home or on board, is available both at the marina and in the residential area, allowing you to relax as if at a hotel while sacrificing none of the intimacy of home life.
Visitors to the Genoa event can see illustrations of the new project features already supported by commercial partners involved in the development: ECYB - Berth Central Agent, SANTANDREA - Real Estate Agency and DEA - Retail Development Advisor.
