KEMPTVILLE, ON, CANADA, April 11, 2013 (Press-News.org) One of the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation's largest fundraisers of the year took place this past weekend, attracting some of the area's top donors - some of whom have been raising funds for the hospital for a number of years. Highlights of the evening included a performance by Canadian songbird and Juno nominee Kira Isabella... and the announcement by LA Group - builder of Kemptville Meadows, that the company is matching a $24,000 commitment to the KDH Foundation previously made by Kemptville Meadows http://www.kemptvillemeadows.ca. The first installment of this commitment in the form of a cheque for $18,500 presented to KDH Foundation board chair Dermid O'Farrell during the event by LA Group CFO Lori Foley.
Although unable to attend the event, LA Group president Gilles Brisebois says he views the fundraising and support his company along with Kemptville Meadows are doing for such community-related causes as the hospital and for the local youth centre, as an important part of being a good corporate citizen. "My basic philosophy when I started building homes years ago was to build good quality homes that were affordable... and that continues to be our core focus. And as a builder that is helping to attract more people into the area, we also feel a responsibility to give back and make sure people are well served in terms of such essentials as medical support. This isn't about business... it's just a civil responsibility... and we take it seriously."
Brisebois added that it's not just LA Group... there are a lot of individuals and businesses that are doing a great job of supporting the hospital. "It's encouraging to see others step up to the plate and support the KDH Foundation... it is something that has inspired us to get more involved and with any luck our efforts will inspire others to help in any way they can. With the rising costs hospitals face these days, I think it's only through collective action that we can ensure the community is able to continue to take advantage great health care services."
As a result of this latest contribution, LA Group and Kemptville Meadows have raised $37,000 for the hospital since February of this year. As with the initial $24,000 commitment by Kemptville Meadows that was announced last year, 50% of the funds donated will go towards Emergency Services and 50% towards the hospital's Mammography Campaign... which according to Kemptville Meadows project manager Fred Heller, are two great causes. "We are attracting a lot of young families, together with some empty nesters and single moms... all of whom can clearly benefit from these services."
John Bouza, executive director of the KDH Foundation was quick to voice his thanks and appreciation for LA Group's contribution. "Both Kemptville Meadows and LA Group are walking the talk when it comes to making a difference in this community," says Bouza. "This is a tremendous contribution that bodes well for the continued growth of the hospital and its ability to meet the needs of the residents of North Grenville and South Ottawa."
