Mold Inspectors Recommend Mold Inspection Prior To Purchase of Homes and Buildings in Asia

Mold Inspectors Hank and Merley Taylor suggest that real estate purchasers in Asia arrange for mold inspection and testing prior to finalizing the property purchase.

2013-04-12
HONG KONG, April 12, 2013 (Press-News.org) Certified Mold Inspectors Hank and Merley Taylor recommend that buyers arrange for the mold inspection and testing of purchased homes and commercial buildings in Hong Kong and elsewhere in Asia prior to the sale closing and payment to the seller.

"Mold growth hidden inside air conditioning equipment and ducts, in or behind wood walls and ceilings, in attics and crawl spaces, and behind or beneath carpeting, rugs, and furniture can cause very serious medical problems for building occupants," advise the Taylors, who are also Certified Mold Remediators, Certified Environmental Hygienists, Professional Industrial Hygienists, and Certified Ozone Professionals.

The top dozen mold health problems caused by exposure to elevated levels of indoor mold, according to the U.S. government, are:

1. Asthma, asthma triggers, or asthma symptoms (such as episodes or attacks)
2. Upper respiratory tract symptoms
3. Eye symptoms
4. Skin symptoms
5. Allergies or allergic reactions
6. Wheeze
7. Cough
8. Difficulty breathing, trouble breathing, or shortness of breath
9. Infections (including those affecting people who have chronic lung disease).
10. Adverse effects to the nervous system
11. Fungal colonization or opportunistic infections in immune-compromised individuals and
12. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis.

Ninety percent of all chronic sinus problems are caused by exposure to mold, according to a Mayo Clinic study.

Mold-sensitive individuals can experience health difficulties after only a few hours to a few days of being in a mold-infested building. People differ significantly in their sensitivity and health reaction to mold exposure.

"If a real estate buyer buys a mold-infested home or commercial building, the buyer risks not only serious mold health problems but also the very high cost of mold removal and mold remediation to make the property safe for occupancy. If professional mold inspection uncovers serious mold infestations, the property should not be purchased or purchased at a significant discount to cover likely mold remediation expenses," warns Mr. Taylor, who has over 25 years of experience in mold and environmental inspection and remediation in the USA.

The Taylors provide mold inspection and mold removal services in Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and elsewhere in Asia and China from their base in Angeles City, Philippines.

For more information on the mold inspection of real estate purchases, phone 63-917-544-8160 or 63-912-481-7637, or email moldmen@moldinspector.com or moldmen@att.net, or visit the websites http://www.mold.ph, http://www.envirohongkong.com, http://www.chinamouldtesting.com, http://www.envirothai.com, http://www.enviromalaysia.net, or http://www.envirosingapore.com.
