In an interview with Construction Digital, Peter Kinsella, the Alliance manger for the Hinze Dam Stage 3 Alliance, discusses the importance of key stakeholders coming together to complete a major infrastructure project."Using an alliance for the delivery of this project has been beyond effective. There were issues from a geological point-of-view and many unknowns for this major renovation that potentially could have tied us up in litigation. We've been able to work though many of those issues together as an Alliance because everyone is on board and onsite. We can work through the issues and take the necessary steps," Kinsella says.
The Stage 3 project will raise the Hinze Dam embankment wall from 93.5 meters to 108.5m, providing a total storage capacity of 309,700 million liters, almost doubling its current capacity. Downstream flood levels will be reduced, which will also lessen the number of properties vulnerable to flooding.
