FEDERAL WAY, WA, October 29, 2010 (Press-News.org) Shyan Selah has signed an agreement with KKNW 1150AM/Sandusky Radio for his own weekly one-hour radio show, "LIFE: The Shyan Selah Show," Fridays at 5pm PST, beginning November 5th. The show will be aired throughout the Pacific Northwest and streamed live online worldwide at www.newschannel1150.com.
"This show will be about taking what I've been doing throughout my career and expanding it, reaching a broader demographic," says Selah. "It's important that the mission and message I've been committed to pushing has an opportunity to expand. Being a part of the great shows the Sandusky/KKNW family offers is an incredible opportunity to do this type of programming and better fulfill this goal."
Featured in the show's programming will be a range of real life topics taken directly from Shyan Selah's life and work experience such as: education and youth well-being issues, current events and trends in the entertainment industry, going green in music and street culture, social justice and responsibility, giving a real behind the scenes look at the entertainment and sports worlds, and highlighting progressive artists, executives and activists. In addition, new music from Shyan Selah and never-before heard music from a variety of the world's top musicians and artists will also be featured. Seattle Radio Night Host DJ Kaz will act as Technical Producer.
"I love radio, I love producing and I really like what Shyan stands for," says DJ Kaz, who's worked in radio for eight years with both the Sandusky and Clearchannel communications companies. "There's nothing like it in radio right now which is pretty stagnant. The guests that Shyan will be bringing to the table will be people that some in radio can't even get. It's going to be a different type of radio show that most people aren't used to - from talk to health to music to entertainment to reaching out and advice. It's hard to find all that wrapped into one show."
"We'll be taking my experience and journey in music, entertainment business and outreach and all the tens of thousands of relative contacts I have and putting them on the air," states Selah. "We're a reality show for radio."
The first episode of Life airs Friday, November 5th at 5pm and will feature former NBA player and member of the Seattle SuperSonics, Dean Tolson, and renowned rock promoter/manager Joe Gingerella (No Doubt, Alien Ant Farm, Jet Black Stare) as guests who will discuss their respective careers in sports and music as well as their youth outreach efforts and activities with Shyan Selah. Future guests will include Alan Paul of the eight time Grammy-award winning jazz group, Manhattan Transfer, and his daughter, vocalist Arielle Paul; Eddie Levert, Jr., entertainment executive and son of Eddie Levert, lead singer of the O'Jays; and Martin Guigui, musician, screenwriter and President of Sunset Pictures, among others who are involved in and represent the many different facets of Shyan's career and networks.
"People only know him as the MC or business guy," says DJ Kaz. "Having this radio show will throw some people for a loop. They'll see he's not one-sighted. We'll be talking about things that involve everybody...Entertainment-wise I think people are going to really enjoy this program."
"LIFE: The Shyan Selah Show" is in support of The Brave Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising global community issues to the forefront and using the arts and entertainment industries in combination with educational initiatives to create community programs.
