Rooms For Let is Re-Launched, for UK Rooms and Houses For Rent

Rooms For Let is a UK-based website listing rooms and houses for rent.

2010-10-29
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, October 29, 2010 (Press-News.org) Rooms For Let provides a comprehensive database of rooms, house shares, flats and complete houses to rent throughout the UK.

Originally launched in the year 2000 by Dacan Internet Services as a way to promote a few rooms in a landlords own property, it grew over time into a major UK rented accommodation portal, where private landlords could easily and cost effectively advertise rooms and houses in any area of the UK. It was possibly the first rented property portal of it's kind. At a time when most landlords could only advertise available property in the local press, http://www.roomsforlet.co.uk offered an option where a much larger rental audience could be targeted at a fraction of the cost. This was particularly useful where potential tenants were moving to a new area, such as students or those relocating for work, but didn't have access to local press.

Rooms For Let steadily grew with thousands of visitors per week and landlords registering their properties to meet demand. After a number of years of growth, the website was redeveloped for the first time. The new website allowed landlords to register properties and make payment online for the first time and tenants could register with the website top enquire on available properties. The website also matched tenants automatically against available properties and put both parties in contact. This was major innovation for it's time.

The recent redevelopment has simply expanded on these features and was prompted as the website was in need of an update to it's appearance. All the matching facilities are still in place but there is now a much closer match and a search can be made to target a very localised area and narrowed down with a budget range. There is also a messaging service within the landlord and tenant accounts so each can keep in contact.

In the main the service was originally used by home owners looking to rent out rooms in their own houses to meet rising mortgage costs at a time when interest rates were a massive 15%, making mortgage payments unaffordable for many. Renting out a room in their own home meant extra income to stave off the threat of repossession.

Indeed, this still rings true today during times of hardship and the threat of redundancies and repossessions looming large for many UK citizens. Whilst interest rates are at a historically low level, house prices grew quickly to a level where average mortgages are now much higher than the usual 3 times a joint salary. This means that many people and families are now financially stretched beyond their means. With the threat of redundancy a constant worry, many are struggling to meet monthly payments.

A spare room in your house can go a long way to improving the situation and many home owners both now and in the past have taken this step to alleviate a worrisome situation.

Rooms For Let helps make this process easier and matches potential tenants to available properties.

As well as rooms in owners own houses, many home owners have turned to the rental market to allow them to move up the property ladder. During the credit crunch it was difficult for many to get a mortgage at the level required and this slowed down the property market. Many people rather than selling at a cut price decided to rent their property out for a short period of time until the markets picked up. They then either purchased a property they wanted or rented themselves during this hiatus period.

Again Rooms For Let was on hand to help in both these circumstances.

So if you are looking for a room, house share, flat or house to rent or wish to advertise rooms or houses to rent try http://www.roomsforlet.co.uk first.
