GLENDALE, CA, May 31, 2013 (Press-News.org) Dr. Scott Scharf, owner of Northwoods Dental, announced his practice production and revenues have increased by 1000% since implementation of a customized consulting program from Sterling, a practice management company located in Glendale, CA.
"Several years ago, I became disenchanted with dentistry," explains Scharf. "I was a competent dentist but had no idea how to run a practice. Despite long hours and hard work, the practice refused to grow." Scharf struggled with staff management issues. The staff at that time were unable to grasp what they were supposed to do. Additionally, Scharf was uncertain of how to respond to staff grievances and disagreements. As a result he walked on eggshells around his personnel. Turnover was high.
"Compared to what I had spent on school, I wasn't making much money," continues Scharf. "I had no time with my family and no life of my own. Fed up, I just wanted to sell the practice without feeling like a failure." Before throwing in the towel, Scharf looked into Sterling. After watching an introductory DVD and receiving a consultation, he signed up for their customized consulting and training program.
Working with the doctor, Sterling organized the practice so that all staff had specific duties and responsibilities. Each staff member was given a metric to measure his or her individual productivity. Working with his consultant, Scharf greatly improved his communication with staff and patients. Additionally, he used Sterling's personnel testing to identify and hire quality staff. Through Sterling's marketing techniques, the volume of new patients rose to a new level. Production and collections also shot up.
"Results were fast and dramatic," says Scharf. "As the practice improved, I began to focus on the high-end dentistry I love. Even better is the freedom I've gained. Because my staff are caring and competent, I can be away for weeks and even months at a time. Once I wanted to leave dentistry. Now I love my work and don't ever see myself retiring."
