TUCSON, AZ, June 03, 2013 (Press-News.org) The liver produces a substance called bile. It is transferred to the gallbladder which stores bile. When fat enters the digestive system, a hormone called cholecystokinin is sent to the gallbladder that then causes some bile to be secreted into the small intestine. Bile then helps break down fat and assists in helping it be absorbed and processed.
A Calorie is the term scientists use to discuss energy that the body uses. We get calories from different things. We get 4 calories per gram for proteins. We get 4 calories per gram for carbohydrates. We get 7 calories per gram for alcohol. We get 9 calories per gram for fat.
When a person has their gallbladder removed, the liver continues to produce bile and then constantly sends a steady stream of bile into the small intestines. This causes the body to be more efficient at digesting fat and processing it into the body. Since humans get more than double the amount of calories from fat than from proteins and carbohydrates, people with their gallbladder removed can intake more calories from an average meal of proteins, carbs and fat than before the surgery since they are more efficient at fat digestion.
A person's weight is determined by their calorie intake and usage. If a person consumes more calories than they require for their height, weight, age, gender and activity level, then they will gain weight.
The diet solution should now be obvious. A person needs to restrict their fat intake. By using nutrition labels and nutrient databases, a person can look up how many calories per fat are in each substance they want to eat and chose to eat foods with less grams of fat.
