2013-06-03
LEROY, KS, June 03, 2013 (Press-News.org) Mid-American Machine & Equipment has expanded its spare parts business and fabrication services to better serve tire and rubber customers in the eastern United States.

Mid-American Machine, founded in 1997, now provides machinery reconditioning, repair, installation and equipment rigging services as well as new and used machinery and equipment from facilities in LeRoy, KS, Sylacauga, AL, and Glasgow, KY.

The acquisition of Madison-Smith Machine & Tool Co., of Glasgow, by Mid-American Machine's Chicago parent Industrial Service Solutions, gives Mid-American Machine additional machining and fabrication capabilities, according to President Shane Sutherland.

"What impressed us about Madison-Smith was its full range of capabilities and equipment that they've used to help customers reconfigure production lines for new products," he said.

Madison-Smith, with 100,000-square-feet of production and warehouse space and 70 employees, serves the food, mining, metals, automotive, and other manufacturing industries. The operation will begin manufacturing and warehousing Mid-American Machine's spare parts.

"Spare parts business growth is a key focus for Mid-American and by acquiring an operation like Madison-Smith so near our customer base, we're better positioned to expand our parts offerings," Sutherland said.

With ample warehouse space, in addition to spare part production, the Glasgow operation enables Mid-American Machine to carry a much larger inventory of spare parts and provide specialty fabrication for its customers.

"Our goal is to be able to provide replacement parts and fabricated material in the shortest amount of time to enable our customers to get back in production quickly," Sutherland said.
