REDLANDS, CA, June 04, 2013 (Press-News.org) In 2010, the world that Laurie Windeknecht knew came to a sudden halt when she was laid off from her job of 8 years due to city budget cuts. Finding a stable job in the corporate world seemed the only answer, so she joined a private company and went to work. After two years of trying to acclimate to a world of cubicles and politics, she left the corporate job and regular paycheck to pursue her true passion. She left the corporate world to follow her passion for painting.

"I do not remember a time that I did not think of art, or painting, or colors. It is always something that has surrounded my everyday existence and influences the way I see the world", stated Laurie Windeknecht. She has been painting daily, building up her collection to show to the public and pursue her career as an artist. She recently launched her website (www.lauriewindeknecht.com) to promote her work and encourage/inspire others that may be thinking of doing the same thing.

"More than anything, I just want to be able to bring a smile to someone's face and possibly a little joy to someone's day when they view my art." Laurie is drawn to the rich colors and lusciousness of oil paint as a medium. "I enjoy painting aerial-style views of everyday objects and life situations with a focus on compositional aesthetics and color to communicate perspective. My current works are greatly influenced by the shapes and style of Japanese Block Printing and the color and compositions of Tom Wesselmann."

Laurie's first public showing will be at the Art in the Alley event in Redlands, California, on Sunday, June 9th, 2013. She will be displaying her oil and mixed media paintings at the free event.
