Tony Gonzalez and All Pro Science Recognize Top Orange County High School as a Proving Ground for Health and Nutrition

Tony Gonzalez and his company All Pro Science, Inc. donate thousands of dollars to Santa Margarita Catholic High School as part of high school outreach program

2010-11-03
IRVINE, CA, November 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) All Pro Science and its Co-founder and President, Tony Gonzalez donated nearly $5,000 in protein supplement products earlier in October to Santa Margarita Catholic High School's football team as part of its new high school outreach program. In September, Gonzalez and APS had donated $5,000 of similar products to underprivileged Buena Park High School as a reward, incentive, and as encouragement for their current undefeated season. Santa Margarita represents a continuation of this outreach program, by now showcasing APS products on the highest level, at one of Orange County's top high school football programs.

"We wanted our products to be used by the best in the land," says APS President Tony Gonzalez. "Santa Margarita has a proven winner in Coach Welch, and his and the school's all-time win record speak for themselves. We want to reward these players for their excellence both on and off the field. No one can deny the ethos of what they do there and their elite level of play. It is programs like this that All Pro Science wants to be associated with. We think we can really help Santa Margarita with a health, diet, and nutrition-conscious approach, which is unheard of at the high school level. We want to work with both top level schools and schools that need a little help; APS means health and nutrition for all."

Coach Welch has amassed a record of 222-49-2, which includes a 46-game winning streak, a 43-game winning streak, eight CIF Southern Section titles, a Division 1 CIF State Football Championship in 2006 and a second CIF State Championship in 2008 in the Small School Division. In 2007, he was named Coach of the Year by the California Coaches Association, an organization that includes high school, college and NFL coaches. In 2009, The Orange County Review named Welch Coach of the Year. The Los Angeles Daily News recently selected Welch as the High School Football Coach of the Decade. Santa Margarita is the alma mater of NFL players such as, current Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer, and current Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Brian Finneran.

Coach Welch had this to say in regards to the donation, "We're grateful to Tony and APS for this gift. Santa Margarita really wants to be known as a pioneer in nutrition, health, and diet for high school football players. Diet and nutrition mean so much, and we're hoping that this can help us achieve even higher levels of success."

Cases and cases of APS RECOVERY shake were given to Santa Margarita to showcase the ability to receive optimal levels of protein through an all-natural supplement. APS provides a high level of aid and recovery that a traditional source would provide, but skips the fillers and artificial colors and flavors. APS shaker cups and APS Relief roll-on pain reliever were also included in the donation.

APS plans to continue working with high schools in Orange County and nationally abroad. When asked why he is donating and getting so involved, Gonzalez says, "I grew up here. I played football at Huntington Beach High, and I know that some of the best football in the country is played here in Orange County. I wanted to give back, but it my own way, with things I passionately believe will help kids even after football. So many kids are getting into steroids and destructive behaviors. If I can help show coaches and parents that kids can get the right nutrition and protein they need from an all-natural source they can trust, instead of going to something they don't need and will eventually harm them, then it has been worth my time and effort."

Part of the decision to donate to Santa Margarita came from the strong academic background that SMCHS exudes. According to its website, 10% of Santa Margarita's 2009 graduating class attends a UC system school, while 2 % attend an Ivy League university, and 21% attend prestigious private universities worldwide. Other reasons included Coach Welch's proactive stance against prostate cancer, a disease that Welch was diagnosed with in August. Since then, Welch has been vocal in advocating that every man over the age of 50 be examined by a doctor for the disease. Welch told Max Preps in August, ""If I can make an inroad here and save one boy's relationship with his father, or a father with his son, or if I can make one inroad that a grandfather or an uncle sees a graduation or goes on another vacation with his children, this is all worth it." APS is hopeful that by teaming with Santa Margarita and Coach Welch, other individuals will take a more active stance in taking care of their bodies.

"We want Orange County high school football and All Pro Science to be synonymous," says APS Director Paul Edalat. "Elite nutrition, diet, and fitness, the all-natural way is what we expect. We're proud to give to a school that feels the same way; it was the right thing to do. If you want to be the best, you've got to work with the best, and that's what they are. Coach Welch has battled through so much and has really been a strong advocate of prostate health awareness, we thought that leaders like Coach White (Buena Park) and Coach Welch need to be recognized by the community. If Santa Margarita and Coach Welch are willing, we'd love to continue to work with them for a long time."

All-Pro Science, Inc. (APS) is a maker of the first and only all-natural nutritional supplements, including COMPLETE 100% Veggie Protein comprised of hemp, brown rice and pea protein, COMPLETE 100% Grass Fed Whey protein, COMPLETE Immune-D+ super-antioxidant containing acai and goji berries and grape seed, RECOVERY advanced sports formula and COMPLETE Relief, a liquid roll-on pain reliever. The company was co-founded by Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez in partnership with Paul Edalat, Chairman of Scilabs Nutraceuticals. Its mission is to provide athletes and individuals with an all-natural nutritional path for optimum health and performance.
