FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, June 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) Ciena Healthcare, a leading manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers throughout Michigan and Connecticut, announced that Omni Continuing Care in Detroit has been recognized as a 2013 recipient of the "Bronze - Commitment to Quality" award. The award is one of three distinctions possible through the National Quality Award program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The program honors facilities nationwide that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality care for individuals with disabilities and seniors.
Serving Detroit's east side, Omni Continuing Care is a 140-bed center offering high quality short- and long-term skilled nursing care, including an on-site specialized ventilator unit.
"The Bronze National Quality Award showcases the quality patient care that everyone at Omni Continuing Care provides to residents every day," said Tricia Tomkinson, Regional Director of Operations, Ciena Healthcare. "This recognition reflects the commitment and hard work of our center staff, as well as our regional and corporate staff."
In 1996, AHCA/NCAL began the National Quality Award Program. It is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which assists providers of long term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals. The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
At the Bronze level, facilities develop vision and mission statements, as well as an assessment of customers' expectations as part of an organizational profile. As part of the application, facilities also must demonstrate their ability to implement a performance improvement system.
"This facility is an example of the great things that can be accomplished when we commit to person-centered care," said Mark Parkinson, President and CEO of AHCA/NCAL. "Omni Continuing Care has remained committed to prioritizing quality care above all else in an age of changing health care."
The award will be presented to Omni Continuing Care during AHCA/NCAL's 64th Annual Convention and Exposition, October 6-9, 2013, in Phoenix, Ariz.
