FAYETTEVILLE, NC, March 6, 2014 (Press-News.org) Director of Music Margaret Dixon has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in music direction and education.
In 2008, Ms. Dixon retired from the education profession after 33 years. She holds a B.A. in elementary education and early childhood development from Methodist University. Although retired from the field of teaching, she sticks to her roots as an educator as a church director of music.
Since the 1960s, she has been a church musician involved in development, and she has been working at a church now for the last 10-plus years. Ms. Dixon remains committed to contributing to small churches without many musical resources. She is an organist, and accompanist for vocal and solo groups. At her current church, Ms. Dixon works to prepare the choir for worship services. She coordinates the format of worship for the church bulletin, directs music from the pulpit, and the plays organ at the beginning of each service.
Also an author, Ms. Dixon published "Don't Go Fishing With A Caterpillar!," a K-1 level book for children, in April 2012. It is also available online in e-book format with a CD. In addition, she has written three other children's books from K-3 that are ready for publication. She is now working on a project for adults, which will contain the memoirs of three sisters. Furthermore, Ms. Dixon is the creator, designer, and writer of curricula and a program of musical Bible stories for young children.
