PHUKET, THAILAND, November 16, 2010 (Press-News.org) The film nights are for the Luang Prabang Film Festival (LPFF) which is a new event to promote cinema within Laos and encourage people to develop their own film making industry.
Cinema within the region is still underdeveloped, and Luang Prabang itself is without a fully functioning cinema. The festival however will look to offer residents and visitors a chance to see films from locations across Asia which will be screened at various indoor and outdoor settings throughout the city.
Set to feature at the show are films from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand as well as the popular Laos film 'Sabaidee Luang Prabang'.
The festival is seen as a starting point to encourage younger Laos citizens to get into film making and to showcase the country to larger international film producers.
Visitors using a hotel Luang Prabang can see all the films which will be shown in the evenings from 4th to 11th December 2010.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, commented: "Many people will be coming together to watch the films which will also help to promote the city as a destination for tourists. Using the Internet to confirm hotel rooms prior to arriving in the city is recommended to ensure people can find the best rates."
