IREM Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 Achieves Five Star Status for Third Consecutive Year

Local chapter recognized for providing valuable services and programs to members

2010-08-27
RALEIGH, NC, August 27, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) has again received high honors in IREM's Chapter Star Recognition Program. The Chapter was formally recognized for achieving Five Star Status at this year's Leadership and Legislative Summit Opening Session and Chapter Star Recognition held in Washington, DC.

IREM Chapter 105, which serves the greater Raleigh and Durham area, was recognized for a variety of initiatives it undertook in 2009, while under the leadership of Chapter Immediate Past President, Bonnie Moser, CPM. The Chapter Star Recognition Program recognizes IREM chapters for providing valuable member services and programs. The program awards points for specific activities based on criteria that define effective, successful chapters—some activities are required, others are elective. Then, based on total points earned, chapters can achieve Three, Four, or Five Star Status. This is the third consecutive year that Chapter 105 has been awarded Five Star Status.

In 2009, despite widespread economic uncertainties, the chapter was able to end the year in the black. Through the joint efforts of the Executive Board and committee volunteers, Chapter 105 was also able to maintain the quality and diversity of its programming schedule and provided interesting and educational meeting topics, as well as three educational course offerings. The chapter also provided outreach to area university students, conducted its first Speed Networking event for its FRIENDS of IREM [corporate sponsors], and sponsored another successful Presidents Cup Challenge Golf Tournament. Additionally, the chapter was able to send six individuals to Regional or National meetings and conferences. Current Chapter 105 President, Tracey Johnson, CPM , says that the award shows that the chapter continues to remain on the "right track".

"I'm proud of our chapter and extremely grateful for Bonnie [Moser] for continuing to set the bar so high for our Board and chapter," says Johnson. "Chapter 105 will continue our outreach efforts—such as our Executive Council's visit to Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC to discuss IREM with those in the MBA program—in order to make our chapter a respected organization within our own association, as well as within the real estate industry."
