LateRooms.com - Enjoy La Serva Padrona During a Naples Holiday

Travellers could add a touch of culture to their city break to Naples by taking in a performance of La Serva Padrona.

2011-01-15
NAPLES, ITALY, January 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) Holidaymakers may like to pick up tickets to see La Serva Padrona during their stay in Naples hotels.

The opera will be staged at the prestigious Teatro San Carlo until January 30th 2011 and should be a cracking experience for people who have never attended a show at such a majestic venue, as well as for seasoned veterans.

La Serva Padrona - which translates as The Servant Mistress - was written by the Italian Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, who spent a significant proportion of his working life in the 18th century in Naples.

This makes the Italian destination an appropriate place to enjoy the production, which boasts a libretto by Gennaro Antonio Federico and will feature music from the Teatro San Carlo Orchestra.

The story involves just three leads - Uberto, Serpina and Vespone - and sees a servant-master relationship turned on its head and all manner of trickery taking place, as an older man deals with his feelings towards the woman who he hires to serve him.

Start times for the show vary depending on the day, but tourists should be aware that there are only evening performances on offer.

Admission costs EUR30 (GBP25), although there are concessions available. Tickets can be purchased online or directly at the box office.

For more information on this event, visit the Teatro San Carlo website or contact the venue on +39 081 797 2331.
