Fewer CCTV cameras, less police, but more arrests with Intelligent CCTV

The advanced PTZ cameras from UK based Intelligent CCTV Specialists Viseum have won the endorsement of a London based international law enforcement agency

2011-01-30
SURREY, ENGLAND, January 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) The advanced PTZ cameras from UK based Intelligent CCTV Specialists Viseum have won the endorsement of a London based international law enforcement agency, who stated that just four Viseum cameras did a better job than at least 20 of any other type of advanced PTZ camera.

These results were achieved through deploying Viseum cameras in some of the UK's highest crime areas, demonstrating the status of the Viseum Intelligent PTZ Camera Array as the ultimate versatile PTZ camera.

In making its endorsement, this agency cited the Viseum camera's ability to move by itself as one of its key advantages as a crime fighting tool; adding that this allowed its cameras to be in constant use. The agency also praised the availability and receptiveness of Viseum's customer support. It concluded that it proposed to use Viseum whenever it was faced with a situation that required CCTV.

International law enforcement successes with the Viseum PTZ camera

Project 1 - only 1 Viseum camera over 3 weeks

There are a number of projects in which the agency has had success with the Viseum Intelligent PTZ Camera Array. One of them involved a group of suspected drug dealers who were dealing drugs and organising fights at a specific location. The camera's easy to navigate and use playback facility allowed for vital information to be gathered that led to their arrest and later conviction. There have been no sightings of the gang members or their associates in the area since the operation.

Project 2 - 3 Viseum cameras over 1 month

Another project involved a suspect who was sexually assaulting females on a public common. There were no lamp posts with power adapters for the CCTV deployable cameras, but placing three Viseum cameras outside the common but focussing on many areas leading into and away from the area allowed the vast area to be covered. The PTZ on each camera allowed for complete close-up coverage, leading to the arrest and charge of a 13 year old on multiple offences of sexual assault.

Evidence from Viseum cameras also helped to identify a vehicle that a gang had been using to steal motorcycles. The vehicle was later found abandoned and was examined for intelligence on the gang prior to being crushed.

Project 3 - 2 Viseum cameras over 1 month

Another project involved the arrest of a suspect known as the 'Slit Throat Robber', who was committing his crimes in an area that was in a CCTV black spot. Viseum cameras were able to easily cover the area, gathering intelligence on the pedestrian traffic. This allowed for the suspect to be arrested as a result of the victim identifying him from images seen from Viseum's intelligence.

Latest project

Another recent project has involved a number of suspects targeting a well-known food and off licence store. The suspects had managed to get away without being caught due to the cover offered by four side roads and a petrol station. Viseum cameras were used to gather the maximum evidence with minimal equipment. During the erection of the first unit, a suspect nearby who had been watching closely had walked a circuit of the area. The Viseum camera immediately noticed his movements and automatically followed him.

Intelligent CCTV Solutions

With the wide range of potential applications and environments for CCTV cameras, more and more organisations are looking for intelligent CCTV solutions that can provide security everywhere at the same time, that provide the ultimate long term crime deterrent and are able to automatically produce their own CCTV evidence. Many are also looking for a solution that is cost-effective in the light of the recent recession. Due to an international patent, the solution for these needs is being produced by only one organisation - Viseum UK.

The success of the Viseum camera in the hands of an international law enforcement agency suggests the potential value of the Viseum camera in a range of commercial settings. Of particular appeal to businesses is the camera's mobility as demonstrated by the agency, which means that less money and manpower is actually required to operate each one than its less advanced marketplace rivals. This could be a particular boost to businesses given the pressure on many of their budgets as a result of the recent recession.

The Viseum Intelligent PTZ Camera Array simplifies permanent and temporary deployment options and is designed for populated open space or for non-populated multiple or single attack intruder environments. Each Viseum intelligent moving camera (IMC) consists of the Intelligent PTZ Camera Array and an advanced DVR camera controller. The Viseum IMC can be configured and purchased for entry level or full panorama coverage, and can protect any open space, from a close proximity area the size of a small garden, up to a large open space the size of 14 football pitches, in all directions and at the same time.

Viseum's Stuart Thompson said: "Viseum PTZ cameras have delivered consistently strong performances in situations where there is a need for CCTV. The news that Viseum's multipurpose PTZ cameras have now won the approval of an international law enforcement agency, which found that four Viseum PTZ cameras were as effective as at least 20 units of other types of advanced PTZ camera, combined with our high standard of technical support, only affirms the status of the Viseum Intelligent PTZ Camera Array as the complete CCTV package."

The latest high-profile endorsement for the Viseum Intelligent PTZ Camera ( http://www.viseum.co.uk ) Array further demonstrates its ability to respond to a range of security and surveillance needs, making it a serious consideration for anyone looking to protect their assets or property in open space.
